The
deadly tsunami that hit the beautiful shores
of Sri Lanka, turned this once beautiful island
into an island consumed by grief, despair and
economic destruction. In
the wake of this tragic disaster, there has been
an unprecedented united effort by the expatriate
Sri Lankan community to provide relief irrespective
of race, cast and religion.
|
'Our
Future' will be a home for helpless
children destitute by the Tsunami waves
in Sri Lanka.
A small community of Sri Lankans residing in New Jersey, United
States is working together with the Archbishop of Colombo, Sri
Lanka to raise funds to set up and manage an orphanage.
|
The
project operates as a non-government
and non-profitable, charitable organization.
An advisory committee has been set
up from different religions (Catholic,
Buddhist, Muslim and Hindu) for advising
and managing the children’s’ wellbeing
by the direction of the Archbishop
of Colombo.
Initially the children sponsored by this Home will be girls
and boys between the ages of 4 and 7 years. The Home will be
able to comfortably accommodate up to 24 children.
The orphanage will provide the children with their basic needs,
care, love and protection and to ensure that these children
will be self-supporting once they reach the age of 20 years.
| All
the children
will be provided with edcuation
upto secondary school and later
the orphanage will support them
in either finding a job or for
their higher studies. |
 |
Our intention is to raise
the children in a friendly environment
bounded with love, care and security
so they will feel comfortable like
at home sweet home. It’s bad enough
what has happened to them already,
but with our efforts and by the love
and support of all who have donated,
it’s possible to make their futures
bright.
...
for they are ‘Our
Future’ and we
can make it right!
